Proverbs – Bad Words

bees on honeycells

I want to touch on the gossip thing before I wrap up this morning.  One of the most effective ways I’ve found to stop gossip is to do this:

When someone starts to gossip to you, look at your phone (or a nearby clock) and when they finish say, “Ok, it’s (…time…).  I’m going to give you 24 hours to go tell that person what you just told me, because at (…time…) tomorrow I’m going to tell them so this gossip can stop.”  Every time I’ve done this, that same person has never gossiped to me again.

There is a song called “Words” and I want to read you the lyrics:

They’ve made me feel like a prisoner
They’ve made me feel set free
They’ve made me feel like a criminal
Made me feel like a king

They’ve lifted my heart
To places I’d never been
And they’ve dragged me down
Back to where I began

Words can build you up
Words can break you down
Start a fire in your heart or
Put it out

Let my words be life
Let my words be truth
I don’t wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You
If you are to be a wise follower of Jesus, your words will bring life AND you will increasingly learn how to avoid bad words.
